Godiva in Nottingham – Flemish artist Rebecca Lenaerts at the ALCS Student Days

Flemish artist Rebecca Lenaerts will give a masterclass at the ALCS Student Days on 7 and 8 March at the University of Nottingham. She will use the legend of Lady Godiva as starting point to construct a collective story.

About Rebecca

Before joining acting school at the RITS (Brussels) and the UDK Art school (Berlin), Belgian born Rebecca Lenaerts studied Art History and Theatre sciences at the University of Ghent and the Freie Universität Berlin. Since 2006 she’s active as an independent artist working in the field of audio stories, theatre and audiovisual storytelling. Both in giving workshops or in her artistic creations, theatricality and imagination are fixed values. Rebecca Lenaerts truly believes in the power of stories to connect people.

ALCS Student Days

The ALCS Student Days take place on 7 and 8 March 2013 at the University of Nottingham. Other authors who will lead workshops in Nottingham are Daniel Dee and Bauke Billiet.

Flemish Representative will attend ALCS Student Days

We are delighted to announce that the Representative of the Flemish Government in the United Kingdom, Geert De Proost, will address the ALCS Student Days on Friday 8 March 2013.

The Student Days will take place on 7 and 8 March 2013 at the University of Nottingham. All university students of Dutch in Great Britain and Ireland are warmly invited to come to Nottingham for two days of culture, information and fun.

With the Students Days the ALCS aims to bring students of Dutch together to enjoy a programme of activities involving Dutch language and culture in the broadest sense. With the help of Passionate/Bulkboek, we hope to inspire the students and showcase the many aspects and possibilities offered of Dutch Studies. There will also be room to explore Dutch and Job Prospects, with examples from the field, hot tips, pep talks and hard facts.

12.00 – 13.00 Registration and lunch
13.00 – 13.30 Welcome and Opening. Speed date in het Nederlands!
13.30– 17.30 Workshops organised by Passionate/Bulkboek. This is a varied programme led by a group of young   Dutch and Flemish writers and performers. The sessions will draw on the   linguistic, creative and performance skills of students, but not necessarily all at the same time. It will also involve the preparation for the evening programme
19.00 Dinner
20.00 Evening programme: mix of performances by artists and students
21.30 Party

Friday 8 March

10.00 – 10.15 Short opening by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Representative of the Flemish Government in the UK
10.15 3 parallel sessions on varying aspects of the Low Countries: History, Contemporary Literature, and Art
11.00 Coffee
11.30 Dutch and job prospects. Three examples from the field, hot tips, pep talks and hard facts
12.30 Lunch and networking, followed by departure
